Background:
Resilience was identified as a developing trend in January 2024. In response, a Plenary session was held in July 2024 at ITE's Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. In October 2024, ITE published a resilience focused edition of the ITE Journal, with multiple articles on the implementation and challenges of incorporating resilience from natural and direct threats into decision making.

Purpose:

The Resilience GIG will facilitate practitioners' awareness, education, and use of resilience considerations in day-to-day activities. The GIG will aim to better understand the ability of transportation systems to withstand and rebound from natural and direct threats, communicate the vulnerabilities of the system from natural and direct threats, and consider management and investment strategies to reduce vulnerabilities.
