Since 2009, ITE student chapters from across Canada and the United States have participated in the ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl, a fast-paced academic competition that tests students’ knowledge of transportation planning, engineering, and ITE history—with a few fun surprises along the way. Each team, composed of up to three student members, competes in section and district tournaments for the opportunity to represent their district at the ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship, held annually during ITE’s International Annual Meeting and Exhibition.
Since its introduction as an international program, 138 ITE student chapters have participated in Traffic Bowl tournaments at section or district events. The winning district teams advance to the Grand Championship, where they compete for the prestigious Voigt/Davis Cup, ITE’s perpetual trophy honoring the program’s founders and its legacy of student excellence.
In 2025, the Traffic Bowl Grand Championship was held in person during the ITE International Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. The University of Florida captured the 2025 title, reclaiming its place atop the Voigt/Davis Cup with a thrilling Final Clue victory over Brigham Young University and the University of Washington.
Looking ahead, the excitement continues with the 2026 ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship, to be held on July 20, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan, during the Joint ITE International and Great Lakes District Annual Meeting. The upcoming season will introduce updates to gameplay and additional opportunities for student engagement as teams from across North America compete for the championship title.
The ITE District Traffic Bowl tournaments commence in earnest towards the end of January or early February of each year to qualify teams for the Grand Championship. The results to date and the current schedule are shown below. For details on participating in your district’s Traffic Bowl, contact the District Coordinator.
