Reaching the Next Generation: STEM Outreach 101 Webinar
When: October 8, 2025 | 2:00 -- 3:30 PM ET
This webinar is led by the ITE Pre K-12 STEM Committee.
Webinar Description:
Have you wanted to do K-12 STEM Outreach in your local area, but don’t know where to start? Are you a seasoned K-12 STEM Outreach volunteer who is looking for new tips and tricks to ‘up your game’?
The future of the transportation industry depends on K-12 students pursuing transportation career opportunities. Most children don’t know a transportation professional and have never seen one on TV or in the movies.
So many of us in the transportation field absolutely love our work. Because of that passion, we feel that transportation professionals are uniquely qualified to help K-12 students learn about the wide range of transportation careers. However, not all transportation professionals are familiar with the resources and techniques for transportation-related K-12 STEM outreach.
Through this interactive workshop, attendees will learn about:
- Why K-12 STEM outreach is so important to the future of our profession
- How to provide high-value STEM content (including tips on best-practices from experienced STEM outreach volunteers)
- How to lead a hands-on STEM activity and a virtual STEM activity
- How to get started with STEM outreach (including helpful STEM outreach resources)
Learning Objectives:
- Convey the importance of K-12 STEM outreach for the future of the transportation profession
- More confidently engage in K-12 STEM outreach activities
- Find good resources to assist with their future K-12 STEM outreach activities
