ITE Webinar: Neurodiversity in the Workplace

This webinar is led by the Women in ITE Committee.

When: October 27, 2026 | 2:00 -- 3:30 p.m. ET

Webinar Description:

This webinar aims to provide information on neurodiversity/neurodivergence. An estimated 20% of the general population is considered neurodivergent. There are a range of diagnoses, with the two most common being ADHD and Autism. This webinar will provide a background on neurodivergence, how it shows up in the workplace, and strategies for working with a neurodiverse team. Background will be given on neuro-traits that are associated with neurodivergence, provide context for different ways of thinking, and tools for working with individuals who may or may not have a known diagnosis. This is being presented by engineers, not trained doctors or HR personnel, and will therefore not include specifics that would be more appropriate from people who are formally trained.

Since every brain is unique, this webinar seeks to offer a diversity of perspectives on how to self-manage neurodivergence, lead a neurodiverse team, and provide an inclusive working environment for a variety of neurotypes. Personal perspectives, resources for individuals and leaders, and opportunities to ask questions will be provided during the 90-minute session. The goal of the webinar is to create a safe space to share stories and ask questions about a topic not commonly discussed with colleagues.

Learning Objectives:

  • Adapt leadership and communication skills to a range of neurotypes
  • Advocate for self and team members for work processes that make tasks easier for all
  • Reflect on how communication and work relationships may be impacted because of neurodivergence
