Broadway Boulevard in Midtown Kansas City is a 3-lane road with a two-way cycle track, bus platforms, pedestrian refuge islands with RRFBs, and on-street angle and parallel parking. It is a safe road with low traffic speeds that serves all users and businesses. It wasn't always this way. Before safety improvements were implemented, the road was identified as one of the highest crash corridors in the entire state for pedestrians. This presentation will map the 10-years of planning and advocacy that culminated in a quick-build complete street project that was designed and constructed in less than a year.
