Presentation: Improving Work Zone Safety and Mobility with Experimental Orange Pavement Markings

Innovative pavement markings can improve the safety on roadways by providing motorists with enhanced guidance, resulting in decreased crash frequency. An evaluation of the safety benefits of experimental orange pavement markings in work zones with nighttime lane closures found a decrease in crash frequency when compared to a typical marked work zone. The economic benefits realized by decreased crash frequency and motorist delay are also discussed.
