This webinar will provide a clear overview of the process for establishing Quiet Zones in the United States and Whistle Cessation in Canada, helping participants understand both the similarities and key differences between the two countries’ regulations. Attendees will learn who has the authority to initiate a Quiet Zone or Whistle Cessation, the minimum requirements that must be met, and the types of safety improvements typically needed at grade crossings. The session will review required documentation, regulatory terminology, and ongoing responsibilities such as periodic updates and communication with agencies. Presenters will also highlight common non-compliance issues, their potential consequences, and practical steps to avoid them. By the end of the webinar, participants will gain a solid understanding of the regulatory framework, technical requirements, and best practices needed to successfully navigate the Quiet Zone or Whistle Cessation process while balancing community noise concerns with rail safety.
