Demystifying Roundabout Planning: Tools, Process, & Community Engagement

Webinar Description:

This webinar provides a comprehensive overview of the roundabout planning and design process. The presenters will discuss key phases including site assessment, feasibility evaluation, and design iteration to identify the most appropriate type and configuration of roundabouts for a given context. Emphasis will be placed on balancing operational performance with safety, multimodal accommodation, and site-specific constraints.

In addition, the session will cover effective public engagement and stakeholder collaboration strategies that support community acceptance and project success. Attendees will gain practical insights into navigating challenges and applying best practices for streamlined roundabout implementation, including the role of local policies in facilitating construction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the core steps in the roundabout planning and design process, including evaluating feasibility and selecting appropriate geometric configurations.
  • Explain strategies for engaging the public and stakeholders to build support and address concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify best practices and policy considerations that contribute to successful roundabout project delivery and community acceptance.
