Dr. Lingtao Wu is an Associate Research Engineer at the TTI’s Center for Transportation Safety. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and an M.S. in Computer Science. With over 16 years of experience in transportation safety research, he has led multiple state and national projects focused on crash data analytics, statistical modeling, and data-driven roadway design.
Dr. Wu is the lead architect and technical driver of the TxDOT’s Safer-by-Design (SBD) Safety Scoring Tool, a statewide platform now actively used across TxDOT districts to embed data-driven safety considerations into roadway planning and design. He has developed innovative methods for processing and analyzing large-scale safety datasets and has contributed to national efforts in crash modification factor validation, connected-vehicle data analysis, and safety tool development. Dr. Wu is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and a member of ITE.
