Michael Sanderson, P.E., PTOE, (H), authored an article In the January 2023 issue of ITE Journal entitled “To Save Lines and Create Healthy Communities: An ITE Member’s Responsibilities”. In it, he summarized the efforts of a task force appointed by ITE’s Board of Direction to identify a pathway to implement the Board’s direction to “First consider all modes of travel, our most vulnerable users, and prioritize saving lives and promoting public health”.

Described as ITE’s Duty of Care, the direction became established as an ITE initiative. The identified objectives included:

  • Embed a Duty of Care Mindset
  • Advance People-Centered Mobility
  • Promote and Demonstrate Deliberative Critical Thinking
  • Encourage Innovations
  • Reinforce a Safety-First Professional Culture

As part of the ITE Safety Roadmap and Action Plan, an ITE working group has been defining how these objectives could be realistically integrated into ITE’s daily operations and products.  This work is nearing completion, and this one-hour webinar is intended to present the working group’s findings to the membership.

Please join Alex Rixey, AICP, RSP1; Dan Hardy, P.E., PTP; Dan Hennessey, P.E., TE, PTOE, PTP, RSP1, and Pete Yauch, P.E., PTOE, RSP2I, (H), for an energetic discussion of this effort!
