ATESD: Program Development, Implementation, Success, and Lessons Learned

Webinar Description:

First implemented in early 2000's as a Red-light safety program, District Department of Transportation's Automated Traffic Enforcement Safety Device (ATESD) program is one of the largest in the country that currently encompasses nearly 500 devices that also includes Speed Safety, STOP Sign and Truck Restriction cameras. The webinar will focus on showcasing DCs ATESD program in alignment with Safe Systems Principles.

The webinar will aim to reflect on DC's program including lessons learned and highlighting best practices centered around equity, policy and public perceptions of the program not just during the implementation phase.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the importance of ATESD as a Proven Countermeasure in improving safety.
  • Gain a better understanding of DC's program including Background, Status and Lessons learned in implementation.
  • Gain insight into best practices for DC's perspective for attendees who may have recently implemented ATESD programs or are considering starting one.
