The GDOT Safety Program: A Data-Driven Safety Analysis Approach

When: Thursday, April 29, 2021 -- 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET

This webinar was developed by the ITE Safety Council.

Webinar Description:

Data-Driven Safety Analysis (DDSA) is an approach to help transportation professionals utilize evidence-based models and advanced tools to quantify safety impacts to help eliminate fatal and serious injury crashes. This webinar will explore the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Safety Program's approach to DDSA. This will include a review of their current process of validating and justifying a safety project, a review of the custom crash screening template for intersections and segments of roadway, a DDSA approach to road safety audits, how DDSA is used in a Safe Routes to School Program, local road safety plans, DDSA multimodal safety analysis for the City of Atlanta, and DDSA before/after analysis. This webinar will also include a review of the tools and application used by the GDOT Safety Program that allows for an efficient review of safety data.

Learning Objectives:
Attendees of this webinar will be able to:

  • Refine existing safety programs by incorporating DDSA methods
  •  Apply DDSA to multimodal project considerations
