State of the Practice for Passive Pedestrian Detection at Traffic Signals

When: Thursday, July 14, 2022 | 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET

This webinar is led by the ITE Traffic Engineering Council.

Webinar Description:

Pedestrian detection at signalized intersections has long relied upon push buttons. Yet pedestrians at traffic signals often do not push buttons, and misinformation regarding push buttons is rampant.

Historically, detecting the presence of pedestrians without requiring them to push buttons has been a desire for traffic signals. COVID, and the reluctance of people to push buttons accelerated this desire. However, available technology was expensive, hard to maintain, and not very precise. This webinar will review available products for providing passive pedestrian detection at traffic signals.

Learning Objectives:
Attendees of this webinar will be able to:

  • List innovations in the field of pedestrian detection at signalized intersections.
  • Describe the state of the practice for passive and touchless pedestrian detection
  • Explain available products that can be specified on projects for passive pedestrian detection

Speakers:

  • Peter Yauch, Vice President / TSM&O Program Manager | Iteris | Tampa, FL, United States
  • Sajad Shiravi, Product Manager | MioVision | Kitchener, Ontario, Canada
  • Glenn Radford | Lanelight Traffic Technologies
