Speed Limits and Probe Data: Bill Lambert, NHDOT
The New Hampshire DOT recently purchased TomTom probe data for all state highways. While the primary purpose of the probe data is to provide real time traffic monitoring, an added benefit is the access to historical speed data that can be used to quickly determine the current speed distribution for any segment of any highway. Bill Lambert will discuss how this data has been a game changer for the evaluation of speed limits and speed limit changes.

I-93 Bow/Concord: Jason Ayotte, NHDOT
Interstate 93 serves as the primary north/south transportation route through the state of New Hampshire, providing access to the White Mountains and New Hampshire Lakes Region for millions of visitors every year. However, it also severs (along with the Merrimack River and adjacent rail corridor) the capitol city of Concord and separates the city’s downtown from the recreational resources of the river. Competing interests and physical constraints have complicated plans to improve peak traffic flow through the city. Jason Ayotte, NHDOT Project Manager, will discuss the ongoing community engagement process and how it has shaped the proposed design.
