Data Sharing with Waze and Other Navigation Providers
When: Thursday, April 11, 2024 | 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET
This webinar is led by the ITE Traffic Engineering Council.
Webinar Description:
This webinar will focus on data sharing with commercial navigation providers, such as Waze, Google and Apple, to assist traffic engineers to amplify their public messaging to inform the traveling public and assist them in making smarter, safer journeys. This webinar will provide an overview of Waze data sharing, Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) and Connected Work Zones (CWz) programs and how federal, state, and local governments are scheduling planned closures on streets for construction, sharing live work zone information, and finding congested routes to prioritize resources and ensure efficient journeys for the traveling public.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the significance of collaborating and data sharing with commercial navigation providers like Waze, Google, and Apple for traffic engineers to enhance traveler information to facilitate smarter and safer journeys.
- Explore the Waze data sharing program, Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx), and Connected Work Zones (CWz) initiatives, including their features, functionalities, and benefits to traffic management.
- Discover how federal, state, and local governments are utilizing these platforms to communicate planned street closures for construction, share live work zone information, and identify congested routes to effectively manage traffic flow.
- Learn strategies for leveraging data from these platforms to prioritize resources, optimize traffic management strategies, and improve overall traffic engineering practices.
- Develop practical skills for employing third party navigation platforms as tools to enhance communication with the traveling public, ensuring they have access to the most current and comprehensive travel information available.
