The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), working cooperatively with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), is leading a national effort to develop a standardized Traffic Management Data Dictionary (TMDD). A companion effort in this cooperative program is developing Message Sets for External Traffic Management Center Communications (MS/ETMCC) which occur between (TMC’s) and other external Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) centers. These message sets are based on the data elements as defined in the TMDD. This Home Page is intended to provide you with information on these efforts. In addition, various products will be posted to this site following their development. This information should be of general interest to those involved in ITS standards development and specifically of interest to those involved in designing and operating Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS). 1. TMDDV3.0-Vol1-draftv04.zip: This zip file contains a complete Volume 1 (needs, requirements, and NTRM) with change tracking on from the previous delivery of 8.30.07.
2. TMDDv3.0-Vol2-Design-draft-v4.0.zip: This zip file contains a complete Volume 2 (data concepts and RTM). There is no change tracking on this file as most of it is generated automatically.
3. OutstandingIssuesV41.doc: As a result of the subgroup discussions and the numerous comments we have received, there are several residual issues to be discussed at the next committee telecon. These issues are identified in this attachment.
4. Pdf files of the two volumes. In volume 1 there is a problem with figure 5 that we haven't been able to debug, but other than that they should equal the doc files. (TMDDV3.0- VOL1- DRFATV04NOTRACK.PDF, AND TMDD3.0-VOL2-V4.0-PDF.ZIP)

New TMDD MS/ETMCC PMP and SEMP documents replacing the original ones – posted 10-04-07

Posted below are the updated Project Management Plan (PMP) and Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) reflecting the new schedule and reassessment of risks. These documents are shown as tracked changes update to the original. Optionally you could switch off track changes and view the document by accepting all changes. There are several documents as follows:

1. Project Management Plan (PMP) – this is now the PMP on record, replacing the original and is reflective of all changes as of October 4, 2007.
2. Systems Engineering Management Plan -– this is now the PMP on record, replacing the original and is reflective of all changes as of October 4, 2007.

The following documents have been released by the contractor for technical review; we will be breaking the review down into the smaller groups as discussed at the TMDD meeting in San Diego. There are several documents as follows:

1. Volume I identifies and describe the needs and requirements for a traffic management center (TMC) to provide services to external centers (EC) via a communications interface. This subject area is frequently called external traffic management center communications (ETMCC).
2. The purpose of this Volume II: TMDD MS/ETMCC Design Content includes the data concept definitions (dialogs, messages, data frames, data elements, and object classes) for the TMDD MS/ETMCC. This document serves as a design specification for the TMDD and includes ETMCC ISO 14817 definitions for the ETMCC and XML-specific ETMCC reference model.
3. This is the same as the above, but without tracking changes

2. TMDD/ MSETMCC Vol 1, Draft 2 (which contains User Needs, Requirements, and the Needs to Requirements Matrix, NTRM). This draft of the complete Vol 1 contains a complete NRTM (minus the column on Additional Project Requirements, which we have not yet entered into the traceability tool so it can be included in the matrix).
