National Transportation Communications for ITS
Protocol (NTCIP)

The primary objective of the National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) is to provide a communications standard that ensures the interoperability and interchangeability of traffic control and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices. The NTCIP is the first protocol for the transportation industry that provides a communications interface between disparate hardware and software products. The NTCIP effort not only maximizes the existing infrastructure, but it also allows for flexible expansion in the future, without reliance on specific equipment vendors or customized software.  For more information about the NTCIP please see the NTCIP Web site, www.ntcip.org.
