Earning Professional Development Hour (PDH) and Continuing Education Units (CEU)
ITE is an International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET)-authorized provider of CEU and follows the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying
(NCEES) Continuing Professional Competency and Guidelines for assignment and determination of professional development hours
(PDH).
Professional Development Hour (PDH) -- A (nominal) contact hour of instruction or presentation. One PDH unit for each hour of attendance in course work, seminars, professional or technical presentations made at meetings, conventions, or conferences.
IACET Continuing Education Unit (CEU) -- One CEU equals 10 hours of participation in an organized and approved continuing education/training experience course, where upon successful completion of the course includes:
- Verification of attendance
- Completion of a course evaluation
- Assessment of learning objectives
Attendees have the opportunity to earn PDH and/or IACET CEU for:
Web Seminars: 1.5 PDH or .15 IACET CEU
Web Briefings: 1.5 PDH
ITS Standards Courses: 6.5 PDH or .65 IACET CEU
CD-ROM Module taught by an instructor: 1 PDH for each hour of session attendance or presentation.
Seminars and Technical Sessions: 1 PDH or 0.1 IACET CEU for each hour of session attendance or presentation and successful completion of criteria determined by instructors.
Technical tours: 1 PDH for each hour of active participation.
Each published paper, article or book: 10 PDH
Active participants in professional and technical society: 2 PDH **
** Credit for active participation in professional and technical societies (limited to 2 PDH per organization), requires that the participant serves as an officer and/or actively participates in a committee of the organization. PDH credits are not earned until the end of each year of service completed. These certificates will be provided upon request.
