The Transit Council is for members with an interest in public transportation systems and associated facilities, including local transit (bus, light rail); rapid transit (bus, rail); high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) facilities; people movers; waterborne transit (ferries); and related multi-modal interfaces.
The council produces newsletters of topical interest and sponsors sessions at the ITE Technical Conference and Exhibit and the ITE Annual Meeting and Exhibit. Additionally, the council will continue subcommittee activities in the areas of light-rail transit and smart growth; transit and special events; and transit security.

Urban Mobility India
The first and largest Exhibition/Conference on Public Transport in India, “Urban Mobility India,” which is actively supported by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India and the Institute of Urban Transport India, will be held from December 3–5, 2008, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The meeting coincides with the anniversary of the launch of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. The Exhibition/Conference is being organized with the aim of bringing all the technology providers, international and national experts, associated agencies, policy makers, decision makers and implementers under one roof.
