The Transportation Consultants Council implemented the Young Professional Scholarship Award program in 2005 to encourage participation from young professionals who otherwise might not be able to attend the Annual Meetings. The objective of this award was to provide an opportunity to these “rising stars” to experience first-hand, a flavor of what ITE is all about. The scholarship also serves as a catalyst to the employers of these individuals to promote their attendance at the Meetings and at the same time aims to generate interest among the younger public at an early stage in their careers. By means of this award, the TCC also hopes to identify future leaders of ITE with capable hands that can continue to keep the flame ablaze and carry the torch forward.
The TCC appreciates and wishes to sincerely acknowledge the time and effort of the individuals who served as judges for this program. Steve Hofener, Jeff Arey and Paul Eng-Wong, dedicated their valuable time, patiently reviewed the numerous applications that were received, and implemented a selection process that will continue to be useful in selecting future award winners. Thank you for a job so well done.
There is a strong need to reinforce in young professionals that they should strive to be more actively involved with ITE. Young professionals play a vital role in shaping the future of our profession and the TCC hopes that they would take the time to be a part of this unique organization and benefit from what ITE has to offer. The TCC plans to continue providing this scholarship award for future Annual Meetings and encourages young professionals to apply.
