Transportation Planning Council

Climate Change and Energy Task Force

Chair: Daniel K. Hardy, Montgomery County MD Planning Department, Silver Spring, MD, USA
Welcome to the home page for the ITE Climate Change and Energy Task Force. The twin issues of climate change and energy may be the biggest challenges facing the transportation profession over the coming decades. ITE has adopted energy and the environment as a new mega-issue. As a cross-council effort, this task force is promoting both the development and communication of solutions to these challenges.

The role of the CC&E task force is to:

  • Provide recommendations to the ITE Board, Coordinating Council, and staff on ITE activities and programs in the area of climate change and energy
  • Identify and champion activities and projects that should be undertaken by one or more Councils in the area of climate change and energy
  • Monitor Council activities and projects in these areas and foster the sharing of information among Councils
  • Provide a status report at each Coordinating Council meeting

The Climate Change and Energy Task Force has the following mission statement:

“Facilitate transportation solutions that incorporate global climate change and energy concerns spanning the range of ITE member interests.”
