Vision
To be the committee of choice for transportation engineers seeking increased personal professional capacity and understanding of traffic incident management and emergency transportation operations.
Mission
The TIM/ETO Committee creates an environment of inclusion and innovation by promoting multi-disciplinary collaboration for the benefit and educational needs of ITE members through project delivery and outreach activities.
Values
This is an exciting time for the transportation engineering and it is also an exciting time for both traffic incident management and emergency transportation operations. The ITE TIM/ETO Subcommittee of the M&O Council has an opportunity to pool the significant expertise within the ITE community to help take a step towards improving TIM and ETO for the industry. Below are the committee’s core values:
- Support and implement the ITE Strategic Plan by encouraging collaboration between members of the committee, M&O Council, and other relevant groups.
- Promote inclusion and respect of all ideas by holding regular meetings, using the ITE Community to foster open discussions and providing regular reports to the M&O Council and other interested parties.
- Enhance and maintain connectivity with the National Transportation Operations Coalition (NTOC) since TIM is one of many critical elements of transportation operations and the NTOC provides an excellent opportunity for joint progress.
- Meet the mission of the Strategic Plan by becoming the principal source of TIM/ETO expertise for ITE members so that they can receive the maximum amount of benefit and continue to make ITE the transportation engineering association of choice.
- Support the current Safety Action Plan by helping to improve safety for emergency responders and drivers.
Critical Success Factors
Like others who seek professional capacity building, the members of the ITE TIM/ETO Subcommittee are volunteers. There are several important factors that must be considered for the delivery of a successful committee experience.
- Support from the M&O Council Leadership and ITE leadership must exist to maintain alignment with ITE and industry needs.
- ITE staff must be engaging and aware of the needs of the committee and able to match needs with resources.
- Members who volunteer must be sincere and able to meet their commitments.
- Committee leadership must ensure that information flows and communications continue.
The 2012 calendar year will be a year of setting the foundation for long-term stability and sustainability of this group that can withstand leadership changes.
