EVENT DATE TIME
Central Valley Greenway Bicycle Tour 8/10/2010 2:00 PM-5:30 PM
The Central Valley Greenway (CVG) is one of the most scenic, direct, comfortable and relatively flat routes in the lower mainland. Built for people of all ages to cycle and walk around their neighborhoods, commute to important destinations and connect to transit, this new 24 km (15 mi.) route connects Vancouver, Burnaby and downtown New Westminster.

Framed by dramatic topography of the coastal mountains, the CVG winds through some of metro Vancouver’s most beautiful natural areas and vibrant neighborhoods. Tour participants will ride on a portion of the CVG from Vancouver to Burnaby and will have an opportunity to speak to staff from the City of Vancouver and Burnaby and also from Translink about the planning and implementation of the CVG. Helmets and water bottles will be provided.

This tour is limited to 20 participants.

Vancouver Highway Infrastructure and Design Tour 8/10/2010 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Tour will be conducted by motorcoach. The province of British Columbia has had several large and exciting projects completed within the past few years. This tour showcases examples of newly opened projects like the Coast Meridian Overpass, which provides a vital north/south link in the City of Port Coquitlam, the Golden Ears Bridge, which is British Columbia’s first automated tolling system and the Pitt River Bridge, which includes the new interchange for Lougheed Highway and the Mary Hill Bypass.

Attendees will get an inside look at these three projects as professionals who are involved with each project will lead the tours with presentations provided on the bus.

Seabus Ferry and NorthShore Waterfront Tour 8/11/2010 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Take the SeaBus Ferry for a scenic ride across the Burrard Inlet to see the North Shore Waterfront. The SeaBus is a passenger-only ferry operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company, a subsidiary of TransLink. TransLink staff will be on hand to talk about the SeaBus operation and you will get a chance to experience one of the most reliable transit services in Greater Vancouver.

Strategically situated along nearly 5 km (3 mi.) of Burrard Inlet, the city of North Vancouver’s Waterfront is both a tremendous location and a gateway to the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver region. Staff from the city of North Vancouver will provide an overview and tour of the Waterfront’s major revitalization projects, which includes the waterfront oriented Spirit Trail for pedestrians, cyclists and people with wheeled mobility aids. Participants will also see the transformation of the Pacific Shipyards into a waterfront community and public destination and the development of a land use plan and public open space design for the Foot of Lonsdale, where the city’s main street meets the shore of the Burrard Inlet.
