Arthur N. Johnson
| Arthur
N. Johnson was born in 1870 and was a highway engineering educator and
researcher.
His particular interest was highway capacity.
He served during his professional career as Assistant Engineer of
the Massachusetts Highway Commission, as State Highway Engineer for
Maryland, and Chief Engineer for the Bureau of Public Roads.
He was also the State Highway Engineer for the State of Illinois
and a consulting highway engineer with the Portland Cement Association.

In
1920 he was appointed Dean of the College of Engineering at the
University of Maryland and held this position until he retired in 1936
as Dean Emeritus.
He
received a B.S. and a Doctor of Engineering Degree from Harvard
University and the University of Maryland respectively.
He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers,
American Society of Testing Materials, and the Highway Research Board. |
