Robert S. Holmes
|
Robert
S. Holmes served as the Eno Foundation's president for nearly 12 years,
retiring from day-to-day direction of Foundation activities in 1986.
A
graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Civil Engineering, Mr. Holmes also studied at the Yale
University Bureau of Highway Traffic.
He was in the Transportation Corps of the US Army from 1941 to
1947, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

| After
World War II he accepted the position of Executive Secretary of the
Institute of Traffic Engineers in New Haven, CT 1947-51; Chief Highway
Engineer of the Federal Civil Defense Administration in Washington, DC
1951-53; Executive Assistant to the President of Wald Industries in
Huntington, PA 1953-56; then was General Manager of Construction
Marketing with US Steel in Pittsburgh for almost 18 years.
Mr.
Holmes holds honorary life memberships in the American Society of Civil
Engineers and ITE. He is
Past President and a Director of ARTBA; Past President of the
Pennsylvania Highway Information Association; a former member of
HUFSAM's Policy Advisory Committee, and former Chairman of the Committee
on Transportation Development. |
