Attendees of the ITE 2009 Technical Conference and Exhibit had the opportunity to attend the Product Showcase, in which companies presented their most recent transportation products. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on new industry products.
Jon Tarleton of Quixote Transportation Technologies’ Weather and Traffic Sensor Integration (www.qttinc.com) presented on the synergy of road weather information and near real-time traffic data, as well as designing transportation systems that are capable of multiple uses and purposes.
Mike Clance and Matt Zinn of Siemens Traffic Solutions’ Total Solutions (www.itssiemens.com) discussed the problem of traffic flows becoming heavier and more varied, which increases burdens on the system. Many cities want to improve their traffic planning and run more effective control strategies in response to the situation. Siemens’ product, Concert US, brings together information from multiple traffic and transit-related systems to make truly centralized traffic management possible.
Mike Volling of Sensys Networks, (www.sensysnetworks.com) presented on the Sensys Arterial Travel Time System, a turnkey solution for urban congestion management. This infrastructure-based system provides accurate, real time performance measures and travel times within an urban environment.
