CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The ITE 2008 Technical Conference and Exhibit, “Making a Difference in Transportation Safety,” will highlight leading practices across the world, making sustainable differences in transportation safety possible. ITE recognizes that there is no single solution to mitigating the millions of fatalities and injuries suffered annually around the world. However, through understanding and sustained collaboration among roadway safety disciplines, we hope to turn the corner and change the culture of safety to one that will not accept the extent of deaths and serious injuries that affect our communities.

Conference attendees will hear from and participate in discussions with preeminent transportation professionals, community leaders, colleagues and other critical stakeholders. Technical content will focus on identifying planning, design, operations, human factors issues and countermeasures to improve transportation safety.

Join us in Miami to share your ideas and experiences. Exhibits of transportation products and services will also provide a one-stop shop for attendees to view and discuss the latest product and software advancements in the industry.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This conference is a call to the community of professionals who hold a stake in improving transportation safety to come together to learn, communicate and collaborate. ITE encourages roadway safety professionals employed by the public and private sectors and decision makers involved in transportation planning, design, operations, law enforcement, public health, vehicle technology development, education and public advocacy to attend this meeting.

THE PROGRAM
Two plenary sessions will “set the stage” to develop the tools and foster understanding needed to increase safety in the transportation arena. The closing session will present lessons learned from the conference focusing on each of the tracks offered. The conference incorporates technical sessions, panel discussions, conversation circles and professional development modules to deliver a dynamic and interactive learning experience. Participants can tailor the program to meet their needs.
